- Install the Purl extension from the Chrome Web Store, then pin it: choose the puzzle icon in Chrome's toolbar, and the pin next to Purl.
- Sign in to Purl at purl.live in the same Chrome profile.
- On any page you want to keep, click the Purl button. You'll see "Saving…", then "Saved with Purl".
The link is in your library right away, and you can move it into a folder from there.
Purl can't save browser pages such as chrome:// pages or the Chrome Web Store, because Chrome doesn't let extensions run there.
- "Log in to Purl first": you're not signed in to Purl in this Chrome profile. Open purl.live, sign in, and try again.
- "Link limit reached": an account can hold 1,000 links. Delete some links, then save again.
- "Could not reach Purl": Chrome couldn't connect to purl.live. Check your connection and try again.
- "Request timed out": Purl took more than 15 seconds to answer. Try again in a moment.
- "Something went wrong": try again. It also appears when your library is full, or when the page's address isn't a normal web address (one that starts with http or https). If it keeps happening, email us the address of the page.
- Nothing happens at all: the page may be one Chrome doesn't allow extensions on, as above.
- Can't sign in? Purl signs you in with Google or GitHub. If you're not sure which one you used, try the other. If neither works, email us.
- Share a folder: open the folder and choose Share, then turn on Public. Anyone with the link can see it. Turn it off to make the folder private again.
- Get your links out: the API returns every link and folder you've saved.
- Delete your account: choose Delete account in Settings → Account. It permanently deletes your links, folders and sign-ins.
- Report a bug or suggest something: send Feedback from the account menu in Purl, or open an issue on GitHub (opens in a new tab).
- For developers: the API and MCP pages.
- How we treat your data and the rules for using Purl: Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
